BREAKING: Suspect Armed With Shotgun, Handgun & Knives Stopped at White House Correspondents’ Dinner
Cole Allen, 31, from Torrance, California, is the man accused of opening fire outside the Washington Hilton during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner on Saturday night.
According to the D.C. police chief, Allen was armed with multiple weapons — including a shotgun, a handgun, and several knives — when he charged a security checkpoint.
One Secret Service officer was shot at close range. However, the officer’s bulletproof vest saved him. President Trump later said he personally spoke to the officer, who is doing well.
No other injuries were reported. Trump and other guests were safely evacuated. The suspect was quickly taken into custody.
Law enforcement described the incident as a lone actor attack with no immediate evidence of foreign involvement. An active investigation is underway.
